The laminated compositions are available three different weights; 240# with a 30 year material warranty, the 300# with a 40 year material warranty, and the 360# with a 50 year material warranty. The higher the weight - the more dimensional look you get! The 240# is a very economically priced shingle if you are wanting to upgrade from the 3-tab comp.

Laminated shingles give your home a "fancier" look and can be overlaid on an existing one-layer 3-tab roof with no problems. The price is about $10 more per square than the 3-tab....and $10 more per each upgrade in weight.

These shingles may also be installed over wood shingles, but is not recommended. However, if you choose to lay over an existing roof, the 300# or 360# would be your best bet...and better quality of installation. If you already have an architectural shingle and would like to upgrade from there you might consider a specialty compositions or MetalWorks.
